For two days, my earbuds have been cutting out during calls. I tried everything—charging them, removing and reinstalling them—but nothing worked. Right in the middle of important conversations, the connection would switch to a different speaker device. Frustrated, I started looking for the receipt, ready to exchange them for a better pair. But then, I had an ephippany —maybe the problem wasn’t the earbuds. Maybe it was the phone.

So, I restarted my phone. And just like that, the connection stayed clear, interruptions stopped, and conversations flowed without interference.

This is exactly what Ash Wednesday and Lent offer on a soul level. Ash Wednesday is a spiritual reboot—a moment to pause, clear away the clutter, and restore our divine connection. Traditionally marked by ashes on the forehead in liturgical churches, the day signifies a turning point, a commitment to remove distractions and listen more deeply.

Whether or not you physically mark the day with ashes, I invite you to take a moment to reset. Set an intention to clear the mental and emotional static that might be interfering with your awareness of divine wisdom. Over the coming Sundays of Lent, through our So Fully Free theme, we’ll explore the habits, thoughts, and patterns that call for renewal.

Like a simple phone restart that restores clarity, a spiritual reset can open the way for a deeper, uninterrupted connection with the infinite.
